Online Bingo
Online Bingo has become tremendously popular in the last few years and is really taking off online especially in the UK where tens of thousands of players play bingo games online everyday. The introduction of online bingo has eliminated the need to travel to bingo halls and you can now access all of your favourite bingo games from the comfort of your own home at online bingo sites. To get a better understanding of the online bingo market, let’s take a look at different areas of online bingo and how they improve the overall playing experience.
Online Bingo Basics (UK Bingo)
For new players bingo can sometimes be confusing so below are a few basics about the game to help get your started: - UK bingo cards and tickets consist of 15 numbers spread across 27 boxes - The boxes run in 9 columns and 3 rows, with 5 numbers randomly placed in each row - The 15 numbers are randomly chosen and placed on a card numbered 1 through 90 - The 1st column displays numbers 1 through 9, the second 10 through 19 and so on - Bingo numbers online are chosen through a computer generated caller who picks the numbers
Online Bingo VS Real-Life Bingo
Obviously playing bingo online is not the same as in a live bingo hall, but online play offers a number of benefits that eliminate traditional frustrations associated with live bingo halls. These include loud and surly players, smoke filled rooms and crowded line ups to buy cards. All of this is eliminated through online bingo and playing bingo online still incorporates the social aspect of bingo through the use of chat on the software. With online bingo software you can chat in real-time to thousands of bingo players across the globe on topics from game play to bingo strategy and trivia. Bingo chat is one of the most popular aspects of online bingo, however there is some bingo slang that you should get comforatable with before you hit the chat boxes to make sure you are up to speed. The popular bingo chat slang terms include: WTG – Way to go (frequently used to congratulate winners) LOL – Laugh out loud BTW – By the way BRB – Be right back HB – Hurry Back TY – Thank you YW – Your welcome. See our Bingo Glossary for more terms. Using these bingo chat terms is a great way to quickly get your messages across and look like a real pro when you talk to other bingo players online.
Online Bingo Celebrities
You may not be aware of this, but there are many celebrities who absolutely love playing online Bingo. Probably the most well know Bingo playing celebrity is Sharon Osbourne. Wife of famous musician, Ozzy Osbourne, Sharon actually has her own online Bingo lounge in the popular UK online Bingo hall, Gala Bingo. In Sharon’s own words, “It’s fabulous, play today!” Katie Price, known in the online Bingo world as “Jordan”, is a famed TV personality, magazine columnist and glamour model in England. She is also the face of the highly successful online Bingo hall, Foxy Bingo. Kerry Katona, a reality TV star and former ‘Atomic Kitten’ band member, was paid £500,000 in 2005 to launch one of the UK’s largest online Bingo halls, ‘Bingos’, where she played often and even served as number caller for awhile.
Online Bingo Rules
Okay, now that the interesting stuff is out of the way, let’s go over the rules of UK Bingo, also known online as 90-Ball Bingo to separate it from the American Bingo game, commonly called 75-Ball Bingo online. Each player receives a Bingo ticket, consisting usually of 6 cards. Each card (see specifics above - Online Bingo Basics) contains 15 out of 90 numbers, with 5 random numbers in each of the 3 rows (leaving 4 empty spaces per row). As the numbers are called, players daub their bingo Tickets (or use online auto-daub feature). When the 5 numbers on a single row are fully covered, yell “Bingo”! But that’s not all - that was just the “1 Line” win. Play continues until a player has covered all 5 numbers in two rows of a Bingo card. Once again, yell “Bingo!” (Okay, type Bingo! - whatever) Still not done yet - that was the 2nd Line winner. Now it’s time for the big prize - the Full House Bingo. A Full House is achieved by covering all 15 numbers on a UK Bingo Card. With this accomplished, for the final time, you may yell (type) “Bingo!”
